Well, despite local news to the contrary, today definitely marks the start of the Bradford on Avon ‘Walking’ Festival, and not any other type of festival… despite what local vandals would have you believe!
The walks proved very popular last time and take in some of the stunning scenery in and around the Tithebarn Workshops and Barton Farm Country Park as well as the surrounding area.
Bookings can then be made in person at the Festival registration tent in Westbury Gardens, outside ExploreBoA (Tourist Information) from 09.00 on Friday 2nd September.
OK, so maybe it is a little early, but we thought we’d give visitors to our beautiful town the opportunity to buy a copy of our Bradford on Avon calendar for 2023. The format this coming year is A4 landscape, wall hanging and featuring a good space to write your messages, as well as images of Bradford on each of the 12 months. We have also included a little bit of information about local organisations and charities that operate in the area…

There have been many opinions expressed about the new living wall in the town centre, but we think it looks good, will attract visitors and, most importantly for our traffic congestion problems, reduces the co2 levels in the air.
Now… if you pick up a copy of Serena’s book ‘A Serene View of Bradford on Avon’ (copies available at SerenArts Gallery or on this website!), you will see that she was well ahead of her time when it comes to town planning. However, her idea of a living wall went considerably further than the new feature in Bradford on Avon…

It was another first yesterday at SerenArts Gallery… carbon fibre decal for a mobility scooter!
As part of their service, TopSteer Mobility offer to add self adhesive, carbon fibre decals to the front and rear of their scooters, to protect against damage to the paintwork. They tasked us with tracing, scanning and cutting out sets of the decals to fit the areas that take most of the bumps…
It took a joint effort from Serena and her artistic eye and me at the computer, digitally creating the templates. Just another thing to add to our list of services at SerenArts!

Having a gallery right next to the river, which is prone to a bit of flooding from time to time, we get rather obsessive over river levels here at the Tithebarn Workshops. So I thought I would show you what difference a days rainfall can make after the long dry spell we’ve been having…
The top left hand side of the image shows over a foot of the Avoncliff Weir wall sticking out above the waterline yesterday… to free flowing water over the top again today.
The right hand image is at Barton Bridge where the loop had been dried up for weeks… to now being full enough for at least a dog to have a paddle!
Told you I was a bit obsessed!!

Work has started on the repainting at the Tithebarn Workshops. This time we have decided to all go for a different colour on each unit! We have gone for a beautiful blue and Mary has gone for a lovely dusky pink. Keep an eye out for who goes for what colour!
A very big welcome to Jerry of Sterlingwood Designs, who has recently moved into share units 6/7 with Jackie. He brings with him a wealth of experience in creating beautiful wood and silver designs and a very cute dog called Freddie!
