“Here We Come A-wassailing”… This Saturday 29th January between 4pm and 7pm why not come along to the Preservation Trust Wassail Event at the Tithe Barn, Barton Farm Country Park. This annual celebration, held next to the Tithebarn Workshops, is to wish the Hens Orchard good luck for the season ahead in producing a bountiful harvest of fruit. 17th-century English lyric poet Robert Herrick writes in his poem “The Wassail”
Wassail the trees, that they may bear
You many a plum and many a pear:
For more or less fruits they will bring,
As you do give them wassailing.
There will be much Morris Dancing and cider drinking so please do pop down and join in.
