A very sad day at the Tithebarn Workshops today as Storm Hannah brings down one of the two beautiful cherry trees in our garden…
During morning coffee in the garden we heard a loud crack and discovered a big split appearing down the centre of the trunk. We were literally dialling the landlord’s number when down half of it came, narrowly missing the tea shop window. We then had to rope off the other half and pull it into the garden, away from the Workshops.
A great shame that this magnificent tree couldn’t make it through this latest storm as they have been such a feature of the gardens here for so many years. Let’s just hope that the remaining tree, outside SerenArts Gallery, can stand strong on its own.
It is business as usual down here at the Workshops, but at some point we will have to cut up the debris, so there may be a nice supply of cherry wood for the fires this coming winter.
