Summer Art Boot Sale

Well, we were very worried by the title of the event we took part in this Sunday… with the weather as it’s been recently, it appeared to be tempting fate.  However, having been incredibly brave / niece and not taking any gazebo or waterproofing, we were blessed with the first / only day of summer this year!

Another great event, as usual.  It is a collection of local artists, potters, sculptors, photographers and other creative people, who set out their stalls in a car boot style and sell their wares.  Most people bring along an example of their current work and then a collection of seconds and older back catalogue work to sell at bargain prices.  The atmosphere is always really great and everyone seems to do well (including the punters!).

I’ve put a few photos of our layout below, including one featuring Sally who was on the stall next to me.  She makes beautiful porcelain hares, chickens, cows and the like… a very talented and lovely lady.

If you would like any further information about how to get a stall at the next art boot sale, or if you’d just like to visit, drop us a line.  They do a Winter one around Christmas time and the Summer one.

Wash Out…

Well we were supposed to do the Bradford on Avon Street Market this weekend just gone but rain stopped play for us I am afraid.  We just can’t risk the weather getting to our stock of photos and pictures.  We’ve done shows where we’ve broken or damaged more than we’ve sold… a little counter productive!

Anyway, this weekend (Sunday 15th July) we’ve got the Summer Art Car Boot Sale at the Black Swan Arts Centre car park in Frome.  It’s a great day and we’ve done it for the last 5 years.  40 to 50 stalls of local artists, photographers, sculptors etc. exhibiting and hopefully selling their stuff.  Well worth a look if you are anywhere near Frome on Sunday – starts at 10am to 4pm.  Hope we see you there…. weather permitting!!

We really could do with some sun please, but I have to bear in mind that some friends of ours are a lot worse off than we are, living and working in Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire.  They just clearing up their third flood in the last 2 weeks.  Good luck guys.

It's a Sign of the Times!

After the theft of Terry’s signs from the top of our access road, Serena has just painted some replacements for him…

Woe betide anyone who pinches these ones!

We’ve also got some new signs up there for SerenArts Gallery, so hopefully will get a whole load of new customers flooding in… (I shouldn’t mention flooding with the river coming up the way is at the moment!)

If you get a spare minute, it’s well worth having a look on Google Earth at the Barton Farm Country Park, Bradford on Avon.  We really do have a lovely place to work.

Massive Swan!

Q:  How many blokes does it take to move a massive swan?…

A:

Two large blokes pushing a plastic swan!

The Getaway

This is the swan that Jane, next door, has been painting over the last week to be part of the “Swans of Wells” which is to part of the Queen’s Jubilee.  There are going to be 60 of them creating a trail around the City of Wells in Somerset and they’ll be there from June to September.  They will then be auctioned for charity, so if you fancy getting your hands on a 5 foot painted, fibreglass swan, you know where to go!  But be quick because they’re going fast…

Summer's Here!

At last, what a beautiful day down here at the Tithebarn Workshops.  Had to just take this quick video (I know it’s not very good, but it was on my iPhone and I was just pleased to see the sunshine and hear the birds singing!)…

What we’ll do at some point soon is the make a proper video of the set up down here to give everyone an idea of just how lucky we are to work at this gorgeous spot.  Rather nice isn’t it?!…

Glass Art Commission

Serena has just finished her latest commission for one of our Glass Art Tables…

Latest Commission for our Glass Art Tables

Glass Art Table

The client saw one of our lamps with the Freeform Design and wanted a matching table… so that’s what she’s got!  It has become quite a busy area of our business at the Gallery.  We offer a bespoke service where Serena can match up with a swatch of fabric or paint colour palatte, on either the tables or our lamps.  We recently had a small piece of wallpaper brought in by a customer who wanted us to match up two lamps with the design.  The results speak for themselves….
