Business as Usual

OK… so crossing fingers didn’t work!…

Workshop Reflections

The water came up too high behind the galleries that it had to come out somewhere, so it decided to spring out of the drain, bringing with it a rather large quantity of…. human waste!  So, despite the photograph above looking quite picturesque, it doesn’t really show the full picture!

The water did rise to within in inches of coming into the galleries, but stopped just short, thank goodness…. clearing up the garden was bad enough!

Here are a couple more photographs of the high water in town and behind us in the Country Park.  The sign at the Swan Hotel amused us, saying book now for Christmas while the waters around rose higher and higher.  Things are now back to normal (as normal as it gets down here anyway!) and we’re all ready for the Christmas rush…

Fingers Crossed

Well, we thought the last time the river came was bad, but this time we really could be in trouble…

Coming Up!

You can see our tide marks on the side of the road.  If it goes past 4 more of these marks, we’re in for it!  At the moment it just gives lovely photo opportunities… Serena captured the swans marking out their new territory this morning and there was a heron picking out the stranded fish by the beakful!  All good fun for now.

Red Sky at Night

One of the small concolations at this time of year, when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon, is that you do occasionally get a sunset like this…

Red Sky at Night

This was the view over Victory Fields towards Barton Farm and our gallery, when I picked up Serena yesterday.

Ho Ho Ho!

Believe it or not, this was 4:30pm yesterday afternoon… why do we do daylight saving?!  Anyway, we thought this looked very festive and ready for the rush of the Christmas shoppers that we’re expecting very soon!  Merry Christmas!!

2013 Calendars

Things have been pretty quiet over the last couple of weeks here at the Gallery.  Not great, but it has at least given us the opportunity to put a couple of 2103 Calendars together to sell in the shop…

You can order either or both of these calendars by contacting us with your details and we will post them to you in time for a great Christmas gift.  That was a pretty good bit of sales patter I thought!

We are in the process now of putting some Xmas lights and bits up and making things a bit more Christmasie ready for the Yuletide rush.  I’ll post some pictures shortly and give you a change to see our range of Christmas cards and decorations.

River Rising

A little bit of a worry yesterday as the levels of the river rose alarmingly quickly…

Get back down!

It never seems to bother the swans though!

Things were back down a bit this morning thank goodness. We had a bit of a restless night worrying, but the forecast is for dry weather over the next few days… we’ll believe that when we see it!

Not quite into 'Orbit'

This massive wrought iron piece was a commission taken by Alan (the glass man)… I think it was supposed to be based on the Orbit in the Olympic Park…. I’ll let you decide!…

Gearing up for Christmas

It’s well and truly started now.  Meet the latest member of the team down at the Tithebarn Workshops…

A Santa called Rob

Ho Ho Ho!

The Bradford on Avon Christmas Festival is gearing up for a big event this year.  Rob the Santa is one of the Father Christmas statues that you can sponsor and then people have to go on the Santa Trail and find them all.  Let’s hope they bring cash with them when they come looking!

We’ll keep you up to date with our Christmas stock that Serena is busy making up at the moment.  We should have plenty to look at this festive season and with any luck we should have some new lighting in the garden to brighten it all up….

Ho Ho Ho!

Just Say NO!

I had to admire the conviction and dedication shown by this person who was demonstrating outside the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Trowbridge last weekend.  It was pouring with rain and there they were making their one chicken protest brandishing a plackard saying ‘Boycott KFC’.

I couldn’t decide whether it was a major chicken lover, a discruntled ex-employee, or a very agressive new advertising campaign from the neighbouring McDonalds!
