Welcome to Bradford…

Narrowboats on the Kennet & Avon Canal

On my morning constitutional today I was delighted to see the number of pleasure boats that had returned to the Canal… all parked up at a social distance of course! It has been a while since the town has seen this much needed, visitor trade and we at SerenArts Gallery would like to welcome them to Bradford on Avon.

If you’re up on the Kennet and having a Google about what to do in Bradford today… might we suggest a stroll around Barton Farm Country Park and a little visit to the Tithebarn Workshops?

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Perambulation

It is too easy to forget sometimes what an absolutely beautiful area we live in.  Before opening the gallery this morning, I went for a walk along the river path to Avoncliff and was very glad I did…

Please excuse the quality of the images, but I only had my phone!

On returning to the gallery to set up there was just time for a coffee in the lovely garden and then welcome the first customers…. beats working for a living!

Great Canal Journeys

We’re not sure how many people got to see the wonderful ‘Great Canal Journeys’ the other night, featuring Prunella Scales and Timothy West travelling from Bath to Devizes along the Kennet and Avon Canal.  It was a lovely program highlighting not just this beautiful area but also the Alzheimer’s that Pru has.  She was, however, amazingly good humoured and fighting fit for her 81 years, leaping off the boat and handling nearly all the locks with an enthusiasm that belied her age.

They stopped at Bradford on Avon for a good time, visiting the Lock Inn for an ice-cream and a chat with Dick… then on to see Nicky at the Floating Salon, where Pru had her hair done.  It’s always nice to see somewhere local on TV and a great bit of advertising for us all.

If you get a chance to see it on Catch-Up television, it’s well worth a look…

We thought this was an ideal opportunity to showcase a couple of Serena’s photos of Canal life!…
