A beautiful morning up on Epsom Downs for the first full day of Art Surrey…
We are at the Racecourse, in case you hadn’t guessed, for day 1 after a successful opening evening last night. Serena’s work got lots of lovely comments and we even had a modest sale!
Here’s hoping the gorgeous weather brings everyone to this marvellous event this weekend.
It is now only 3 more sleeps until the Art Surrey Fair at Epsom Down Racecourse 2023. Serena will be exhibiting at this inaugural event and has been extremely busy painting over the last few months…
She’ll be going… will you?!
Tickets are available from the Art Surrey website if you would like to attend. We would love to see you!
It is now over 2 weeks since Wessex Water started work in Victory Field, putting in their huge run off tank. However, as far as we can tell so far they have knocked down the wall and made a lovely big car park for the mates to park their diggers!
Although access down Pound Lane is certainly not blocked, the disruption to traffic and footfall is obvious. We would just like to let everyone know that we are definitely open down at the Tithebarn Workshops and looking forward to welcoming you soon. There is still some parking in Pound Lane and the car park in Barton Farm and our parking spaces are all still accessible by vehicle.
We now have a bit more information about the upcoming Autumn Fair at the Tithebarn Workshops…
The event will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 28th October. There will be demonstrations from the resident artists and creators from the Workshops, as well as a collection of stalls featuring local makers, in the garden. We will also be running children’s activities and there will be local musicians giving a sound track to the day with live music.
The new owner of the Workshops Cafe will be open, offering a selection of cakes, teas, coffees and refreshments, with tables in the garden for you to enjoy the festivities.
And… dare we say it… a great chance to get some early Christmas shopping in!
We hope that this inaugural event will be a great success and we look forward to welcoming you all down here.
We are planning on having an Autumn Fair in the gardens of the Tithebarn Workshops on Saturday 28th October 2023. We will be inviting a limited number of creative people to take part by having a stall and doing what you do! If you are interested in joining us or would like more information, please contact us at any time.
As we have more details we will let you know, but with the all new line up here at the Workshops its certain to be a fun day.
The setting for Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust’s first Apple Day is perfect. Tea and cake will be served in the medieval West Barn and the English Heritage owned Tithe Barn will host traditional English music from the Bath Waits. There will be children’s activities (including The Longest Peel Competition) and information stalls in the Courtyard. The Men’s Shed will be juicing apples from gardens and allotments, using their own specially constructed apple press. Please feel free to bring your own apples to juice and enjoy! Donations are welcome for the tea and cake and there will be cider and apples to buy.
Why not come down this afternoon and enjoy the fun and do a bit of shopping at the Tithebarn Workshops?
Work on the new underground water storage tank started in Victory Field this week and is expecting to go on until Spring next year. We have been reassured that access to the Tithebarn Workshops will not be affected and you will still be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Barton Farm Country Park…
It does appear that the football pitch nearest the hole is a bit more compact, but so far so good!
Wessex Water will install the new storage tank to improve the health of the river by ensuring the system can cope with rapid increases in wastewater flow after heavy rains. More than 160,000 litres of extra storage will be built below ground to prevent the combined sewer from overflowing to the river Avon when there’s a heavy storm. This will hopefully help with things at the Workshops too as, over the years, we have had a number of watery issues.
We’ll try and take a number of shots of the hole over the coming months to show the progress.
After a day and a half of faffing about trying to make changes to our SerenArts Gallery website I have officially given up and gone back to our tried and trusted design, with a few colour and image alterations. Luckily all our previous Blog posts miraculously reappeared too, which is a bonus!
While I’ve been messing about Serena has been busy painting more fabulous pieces for the rapidly, upcoming Surrey Art Fair (6th October). You can see her latest creations on her Instagram but here’s a taster…
As usual, there is no pigeon holing Serena with her art style as these two completely contrasting works show. The peonies on the left are on a 30″ x 30″ board and painted in oils whereas the lady on the right is a 12″ diameter board painted with acrylics.
We thought it was about time that we changed the theme of our WordPress website for SerenArts Gallery… and what happens?… all our blog posts disappear! All 506 of them!
So, here we go again. This was taken today outside our beautiful gallery, in the glorious sunshine. Definitely what you’d call an Indian Summer.
We will try and keep you up to date with all the comings and goings at the gallery.
