Anthony Pates – Artist

We were very sad to hear of the passing of local artist Anthony Pates recently. We have had the pleasure of doing some printing work for Anthony over the years, reproducing some of his incredible artwork as prints, cards and postcards. He was an absolute gentleman and created the most exquisite, timeless work.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Here are a few examples of Anthony’s extraordinary work…

Busy Weekend

SerenArts had a very busy time over the weekend with back to back markets…

Saturday 13th July – Trowbridge Weavers Market

Trowbridge Weavers Market

Saturday saw the first Trowbridge Weavers Market which is to run on the second Saturday of every month and occupies the centre of Trowbridge. Bringing together makers from all spheres and incorporating music and street food. We opted for a suitcase pitch at the first event and took along our book ‘A Serene View of Bradford on Avon‘ and a collection of cards from the book. We have also booked for the August and September dates and hope to see everyone come along to this excellent event.

Sunday 14th July – Frome Art Car Boot Sale

Frome Art Car Boot Sale

Sunday, and it was off to Somerset for a return to the annual Frome Art Car Boot Sale organised by Black Swan Arts and held in the car park outside the Cheese and Grain. This event does exactly what the name suggests… offering visitors an opportunity to obtain art, direct from the artists, at a reasonable price. The weather was fantastic and day was a great success.

A busy but rewarding weekend and its back to the gallery today after a much needed day off!

Serena has started another two pieces of her 3D artwork and here is the first…

They are both yet to have their air dry clay additions added so we’ll keep you posted as they progress.

We are already getting some very favourable comments from customers in the gallery and it certainly gets people talking when they see Serena working on them. The completed pieces will be making it to the walls soon.

Latest Artwork

As you’ll have seen from previous posts, Serena has been working on a number of 3 dimensional artworks using oil paints and air dry clay. Here are the latest two that are currently drying ready for more layers to be added…
